Hanalei Bay and Princeville Restaurant recommendations on Kauai

• Kapaa Restaurants:
• Kauai Pasta - Italian Cafe, surprisingly good food for dinner but not the best atmosphere... 6
  
• Shaka Taco - good for lunch, great selection of salsa... 8
  
• RESTAURANTS: Hanalei Bay area
  
• Best Dinner is Barracuda  (seafood with a Mediterranean flair) 9+
  
• Lunch; Least enjoyed was Tropical Taco! 1 (only because I ate).
  
• Breakfast; Hanalei, Java Kai is very local and casual... 7
  
• Lunch/Dinner; Kalipso is ok, good prices and nice beer selection... 7
  
• Dinner: Dolphin Restaurant, excellent but small portions of fish although you get free bread and all you can eat salad included with dinner.   I recommend McManis Merlot for a smooth red that doesn't bite and the wasabi sauce on your fish and rice, we love it... 8
  
• Dolphin Fish Market has fresh island fish for cooking at home, ask for the wasabi sauce to go along with your fish... also excellent on rice.
  
• Sushi Blues: they'll have the blues when they go out of business... -1 (Jill didn't eat) because of poor service and serving their sushi at room temperature...  1 time is all it took, we wont be back!
• Mediterranean Gourmet located at the Hanalei Colony Resort has excellent Mediterranean food steps from the water. 
  
• Shave Ice afternoon treat.... a must while you're on the island... 10
  
• Princeville
• Bali Hai restaurant: closed in 2008, we hope they open up again soon
• CJ's: at the Princeville entrance, 7 for lunch... 5 for dinner.
• Princeville resort, Italian restaurant is expensive but nice on the balcony for a fantastic sunset... 8
• Princeville resort, sushi is terrific... 8 (expensive)!
• Princeville golf resort: Mon-Wed-Fri sushi... better priced and terrific... 8
