Kauai vacation home rental considerations

Consider renting a vacation home

The next time you are booking a vacation on Kauai consider using a vacation home rental instead of a resort or a hotel. Also known as vacation home rentals, these privately-owned, fully-furnished houses offer many advantages over hotels, motels, and resorts. You can find vacation rentals in abundance from the beaches of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui and all around the Hawaiian islands, vacation home rentals provide special and unique holiday experiences unavailable elsewhere.

Vacation homes come in all shapes and sizes. They can be multi-million dollar houses, resort condos, townhouses, rain forest cabins, or even luxury mansions on a private part of the islands. They can be found in the sunny side of Poipu to the lush tropical settings of Ke'e, and the prestigious neighborhoods of Princeville.  No matter where your vacation plans take you or what you plan on doing once you get there - hiking, biking, skiing, diving, or just reading books and laying out in the sun - there are vacation rental properties ready to meet your needs.

Vacation rentals provide you with unparalleled space and privacy, which are so often lacking in the single rooms typically offered at a hotel or motel. With all of the amenities of your own home, like multiple bedrooms, fully-furnished living rooms, and many other comforts such as space, vacation rentals are a great way to vacation like a local. Thanks to the available kitchen, you can cook your own basic or gourmet meals and don't have to eat out for every breakfast, lunch, and dinner - unless, of course, that is what you want. Preparing meals this way can be a great way to save money, especially if you are traveling with the children.

Cost is part of the most surprising thing about vacation homes; despite popular perceptions to the contrary, quite often they are a great travel lodging bargain. Many rental properties cost no more than a suite hotel room, even in popular resort destinations, but you get so much more with a vacation home rental. So the next time you are making travel plans, be sure to look up the vacation homes available at your destination. Renting one just might be the start of the holiday of a lifetime

Things we consider a MUST for a vacation rental home:

  • Managed by a local representative, management company to serve your needs.
  • Pest & Bug control monthly
  • Lawn & garden maintenance weekly
  • In-clean and out-clean housekeeping with optional cleaning during your stay.
  • Maintenance person available for potential problems.
  • Private accommodations: who wants to hear other people partying all night!
  • Safe neighborhood without the beach bums and riff raff that frequent some of the beaches of Kauai.
  • Multi-million dollar homes should be by other multi-million dollar homes!  I've seen most neighborhoods on the island and it always amazes me how a beautiful home can be next to a tear down.  Who knows who lives there!
  • New home: you don't want to deal with other peoples problem appliances
  • Restaurants in close proximity; driving 10 miles on a 2 lane road is not enjoyable and not safe late at night, be sure nice restaurants are close by..
  • Food market and liquor store close to your vacation home.
  • Beaches, hiking, golfing, horseback adventures in the general area.  You're on a vacation, not a driving excursion!
